Louis Vuitton reveals the Louis Vuitton 2054 collection designed by Virgil Abloh. The designer, at the creative guide of the masculine lines of the brand, chose to call it this way from the meeting between the present century and 1854, the year in which the LVMH maison was founded.
Abloh, imagining the future of menswear, used completely water-repellent technical materials for a range of 14 pieces in a selection of styles and colors, each of which integrated into transformable values.
These are multifunctional and performing garments, but at the same time versatile thanks to the integration of the compressomorphosis technique, introduced for the first time in the autumn-winter 19/20 pre-collection. The details of the pockets on the garments, in fact, are compressed entirely to become easily transportable, therefore ideal for travel.
Oversized padded shirts with multiple zips are compressed in their own back pocket and become a trekking pillow. Wind jackets, thanks to a front pocket inside which the jacket folds, can be transformed into a pouch. Military paras are divided into two separate jackets, while parachute trousers with raised monograms have removable cargo pockets.
About the monogram, the logo was reinvented by Abloh with trompe l’oleil effect in relief on a mimetic rainbow motif. the motif is repeated in a black and white interpretation, which appears on the lining of most of the garments. To further distinguish the line are the graphics. The Louis Vuitton logo composed of synchronized airplanes, for example, decorates the front of a hooded sweatshirt.

Regarding accessories, bags in technical fabrics, embossed or padded leathers mixed with transparent plastic hardware details adopt the convertible and multifunctional values of the collection. Messenger bags have expandable functions, while the Christopher backpack is enriched with side pockets.
Accessories also include shoes, an extra-large scarf, a water-repellent bucket hat, chain jewelry with the rainbow motif, sunglasses and a watch. The Louis Vuitton 2054 collection will arrive globally in December.
Virgil Abloh, absent from the scene from early September for health reasons, returned to the Louis Vuitton headquarters in Paris a few days ago. The designer posted a selfie taken in the elevator on his personal Instagram account, his face mostly covered by the LV logo engraved on the mirror.
