Victoria’s Secret, first trans model

Victoria’s Secret, first trans model

The Brazilian Valentina Sampaio among Pink campaign testimonials

Victoria’s Secret breaks a crystal roof: for the first time the lingerie brand engages a transsexual model. This is the Brazilian Valentina Sampaio. The same model, 22, announced it with a post on Instagram. “Taken from the backstage @vspink” – he wrote wearing a bathrobe, referring to the Pink line, launched in 2002 and aimed at young women.

The decision to hire a trans model follows a few months the controversy raised by chief marketing officer Ed Razek who said that the Victoria’s Secret angels show is not for LGBT or curvy women because these categories do not represent the ‘fantasy’ that Victoria’s Secret try to sell. A few days ago, moreover, the company also announced that this year, after 23 editions, there will not be a fashion show with the famous ‘angels’ models.

La Sampaio in 2017 was the first trans model on a Vogue cover, on the edition of Paris, in Brazil and in Germany in the same year.
