Tom Ford, the Texan designer who has chaired the Council of Fashion Designers of America for two years, announces that the New York fashion week calendar will be called the ‘American Collections Calendar’. the CFDA will continue to encourage US brands to be part of the Big Apple fashion week but, if not, they will still be part of the stars and stripes show called ‘American Collections Calendar’. Ford recognizes that in recent years some made in USA brands have preferred to show in Europe or in countries considered more strategic for their business, perhaps even outside the fashion weeks of Paris, London or Milan. But now it is ready to welcome everyone, whether they show in New York, Paris or Dubai at any time of the year. To be included in the new calendar and on the Runway360 digital platform, you just need to be American, while not actually contributing to the American fashion week.
