News from LVMH: LVMH Luxury Ventures acquires a minority stake in the New York label Aimé Leon Dore, a streetwear brand founded in 2014 by entrepreneur and creative director Teddy Santis, and singer-songwriter and record producer Pharrel Williams announces he is “engaged” to Tiffany, a historic jewelry brand part of LVMH group.

Urban fashion

Over the years, Aimè Leon Dore’s preppy models have gained popularity by enhancing a style that was once a driving force in urban fashion. The brand, often referred to as “Ald”, focuses on t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts, more sophisticated proposals such as rugby shirts, tailored trousers and Wallabee lace-up shoes. The style is reminiscent of 90s hip-hop stars like Nas or the WuTang Clan, who wore preppy brands like Tommy Hilfiger in oversized silhouettes. In recent years,Aimé Leon Dore has collaborated with Woolrich and Clarks.

Pharrel Williams and Tiffany

Pharrell Williams, winner of several Grammy Awards and not new to fashion collaborations, has revealed his link with Tiffany & Co by showing a pair of sunglasses with almond-shaped lenses ringed with diamonds and with an emerald set on each temple, and declaring “I’m engaged with Tiffany, sunglasses are the first of many things we’ll do together”.

Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Chanel and Adidas are some of the brands Williams has collaborated with. The search made for greater sustainability of denim has instead led Pharrell to G-star Raw, the Dutch brand of which today the singer is co-owner and “head of imagination”. Tiffany has recently reinterpreted its image in a pop key, with collaborations such as the one with Supreme, Beyoncé, Jay-Z and NBA champion Kyle Kuzma as faces of Tiffany.
