The art of watchmaking becomes a UNESCO heritage. Included in the prestigious global list are the “skills of clock mechanics and art” that developed in the Franco-Swiss Jura Arc, north of Lake Geneva up to Schaffhausen and Besançon (France); as well as the manufacture of music boxes in the Saint-Croix area. 90% of the production of Swiss hands is concentrated in the Canton of Jura, the so-called Valley of Watches.
