Longchamp debuts at New York Fashion Week and does so with a show of symbolism, starting with the location
For its 70th anniversary, the French brand has chosen the World Trade Center with an eye on the Statue of Liberty.
Against the backdrop of Miss Liberty, a gift from the French to the Americans, who for over 130 years has dominated the New York bay as a symbol of freedom, the brand has sent a spring / summer 2019 collection on the catwalk, praising freedom as well as femininity. The recurring motif is the fringes, a symbol of energy.
Longchamp chose New York also for another debut, that of creative director Sophie Delafontaine, with the brand in his DNA, having grown up in boulevard Poissonnière in Paris where, in 1948, his grandfather founded the company.
“All debuts are important in life – told ANSA Delafontaine – in particular this in New York is important not only for me, but also for the brand, today I felt all the energy of this goal and at the same time I could show all the creativity of Longchamp “.
For Delafontaine, New York is a symbol of energy, it is positivity, it is freedom, elements that can be seen in the collection designed for a woman who is a bit of an Amazon, with a strong character. The designer was inspired by two icons such as Anita Pallenberg and Veruschka, two women not only beautiful but also with character.
“The woman of Longchamp is elegant but with a touch of eccentricity – Delafontaine has underlined – she dares in colors, loves movement and has character”.
In the front row at the Kendall Jenner fashion show, the Longchamp face for the autumn campaign.
In the video of the 70th anniversary, filmed on the beautiful streets of Paris, Kendall waves, looking for something, among the buildings of the French capital and in alternation to his race appear ‘frame’ of a galloping horse.
Also in the front row is another fashion icon like Kate Moss.
The model wore a long fringed black mini-dress in Longchamp leather and knee-high boots.
