A pair of Kanye West’s Nike Air Yeezy 1s sold for $ 1.8 million on the Rares sneaker investment platform. The shoes, worn by the American rapper and entrepreneur in 2008 at the Grammy Awards, while performing in ‘Hey Mama’ and ‘Stronger’, were part of a collection developed in collaboration by Nike and West and were prototypes. The sneakers broke the record held by a pair of Nike Air Jordan 1s worn by Michael Jordan and sold for $ 615,000 in August 2020 at a Christie’s auction. The price is the highest one ever publicly recorded for a sneakers sale.
