Jacquemus to launch men’s line

After weeks of teasing the forthcoming announcement of a “new job,” Simon Porte Jacquemus revealed his big news on the first day of Paris Fashion Week, as he presented his Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. No, it wasn’t a collaboration or a creative director role at storied house. The playful and social media-savvy designer, beloved for his deconstructed and often surrealist interpretations of French tropes, is launching a menswear line under his existing label, according to Vogue. He will present his first men’s collection at Paris Fashion Week in June.

“You can have a new job even if it’s at your own house”

Originally from Mallemort in the south of France, Jacquemus launched his namesake label in 2010 when he was 19 years old and became one of the youngest designers officially showing at Paris Fashion Week in 2012. He has grown the business to reach over 100 wholesale accounts and over €5 million in sales in 2016. The designer was nominated for the LVMH Prize in 2014 and 2015, winning the Special Jury Prize in the second year.
Many expected Jacquemus’ announcement to reveal a new posting.  “You can have a new job even if it’s at your own house,” he told Vogue.
