Instagram extends the possibility of using its platform to sell its products and services. Companies will have to tag products on Instagram from a single website they own and from which they sell, in order to offer people a consistent and reliable shopping experience. Once the request is approved, companies and users will be able to start offering the goods for sale. Instagram will explain the reasons for any refusal to unsuitable users so that they can make necessary changes to become sellers. The criteria will be operational from 9 July within Instagram Shopping, and could soon be extended to Facebook Shops, Facebook Page Shops, Marketplace Stores and Live Shopping. In May, CEO Zuckerberg had unveiled ‘Shops’, a function that will allow retailers to update the catalog of their products through their Facebook and Instagram profiles.
