At La Scala there were really everybody: fashion and entertainment stars have been called to collect for the third edition of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards 2019, the green fashion Oscars, which celebrate the commitment to sustainability of the fashion houses that work to embrace rapid change, preserving the heritage and authenticity of small-scale producers.
Several international stars and Italian legends present, such as Valentino Garavani and Sophia Loren who moved, gave the designer the prestigious Legacy Award, a recognition that the Eco-Age co-founder Livia Firth and the president of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion Carlo Capasa have wanted to dedicate to Valentino.
Guests were greeted by a Piazza della Scala painted green, transformed for a night into a suggestive Renaissance vineyard. The set was edited by Vogue’s international editor at large, Hamish Bowles, creative director of the event, who wanted to dedicate the installation to the 500th anniversary of Leonardo Da Vinci.
To do the honors, in addition to Livia Firth and Carlo Capasa, were the models Adut Akech and Jon Kortajarena, who led the evening, while all the big names in the fashion system, from the director of Vogue USA, were sitting in the audience. Wintour, to the models Doutzen Kroes and Amber Valletta, Isabeli Fontana, Candice Swanepoel, Elisa Sednaoui, Toni Garn, Elsa Hosk and Alessandra Ambrosio. And yet designers of the caliber of Stella McCartney, Angela Missoni and Rosita Missoni, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Renzo Rosso and Paolo and Gildo Zegna, Tommaso Trussardi and Alessandro Sirtori.
As for the prizes awarded, some statues made by Chopard in Fairmindef certified ethical gold, here are all the winners:
The GCFA Visionary Award was presented by Ginevra Elkann to the patron of Kéring, François-Henri Pinault, while the GCFA Circular Economy Award was won by Healthy Sea. In the Technology and Innovation category the president of SICIT Walter Perretti and the CEO received the statuette , Massimo Neresini. The Social Media Changemaker Award was assigned to the model Doutzen Kroes while the Franca Sozzani Award for Best Emerging Designer was presented by Arizona Muse and Sara Sozzani Maino to Flavia La Rocca. I was a Sari won the Responsible Disruption Award, while the North Star Award was presented by Colin Firth and Lea T to Auret Van Heerden and Dorothée Baumann-Pauly of NYU Stern and Kate Fletcher & Mathilda Tham from Union.
And again, the CNMI Award in recognition of Sustainability was awarded to Elia Maramotti of Max Mara and to Alessandro Sartori and Gildo Zegna of Zegna. Stylist Stella McCartney won the Groundbreaker Award while the award for the Art of Craftsmanship was awarded to Pino Grasso. Finally the Eco Stewardship Award given to the gondoliers of Venice.
