Gianfranco Gianangeli is the new CEO of Maison Margiela. From September he will report directly to Ubaldo Minelli, CEO of Otb, a group of Renzo Rosso to which the maison belongs. Gianangeli was global retail director by Givenchy, associated international director in Prada and vice president for Japan of Bottega veneta. He takes the place of Riccardo Bellini, who has left the position to direct Chloe. Maison Margiela, whose creative direction has been entrusted to John Galliano since 2014, closed 2019 with a 36% growth compared to the previous year. Japan accounts for 32% of the brand’s turnover, which has 32 directly managed single-brand stores and 7 in franchising. New openings are planned for 2020 in Paris, New York, Shanghai and Osaka.
