The historic maison changes leadership by revolutionizing the creative direction

A new creative impulse

In the world of high fashion there is an interesting news about an important change among the top management of creative directors. The news is that Etro trust in De Vincenzo. Marco De Vincenzo will in fact be the new creative director for all the collections of the Etro maison, for men, women and home. Marco, a Sicilian born in Messina in 1978, can rightly be defined as one of the designers with the most innovative and revolutionary ideas of the new generation on the international scene. Graduated in 2000 from the European Institute of Design in Rome, he didn’t take long to be noticed by the biggest names in fashion. In fact, it is already from the end of his studies that the top brand Fendi has chosen him to put his creativity at the service of the design of the great brand’s accessories, starting a long collaboration. At the same time as his design work for the great Roman brand in 2009 Marco De Vincenzo launched his personal line of women’s prêt-à-porter. In the same year another great satisfaction came on the occasion of the “Who’s on Next?” Competition, organized by Altaroma in collaboration with Vogue Italia dedicated to emerging new talents, in which Marco participated and won. This changing of the guard is fully part of the choices of the new strategic plans of the new property. Until now, the creative direction had been entrusted to the Etro brothers, Veronica, Kean and Jacopo, respectively responsible for the women’s, menswear and home lines, committed to setting the line and style of the collections of the family brand, founded in 1968 in Milan from father Gerolamo. A real revolution for the Etro maison which for the first time has chosen to rely on a creative director outside the family, even if the brothers confirm that they continue their collaboration with the family maison. The development strategy of the Etro brand continues in partnership with the private equity fund born from the alliance between Catterton, Lvmh and Bernard Arnault, which took over the majority of the company shares in July 2021, after months of courtship of various funds, for an overall valuation of approximately 500 million euros. The new CEO Fabrizio Cardinali, who joined the company in September 2021 after important experiences with Dolce & Gabbana and Richemont, said about the choice of the new creative director that: “in the context of the new course of the brand, we welcome Marco’s entry with enthusiasm De Vincenzo. Thanks to his sensitivity for colors, prints and fabrics, we are sure that Marco will be able to best interpret the extraordinary heritage of Etro with new variations for the different collections of the brand, also giving a new impulse to the world of accessories “. Marco De Vincenzo’s debut on the catwalk will take place in September on the occasion of the presentation of the women’s spring / summer 2023 collection during the next edition of Milano Moda Donna. Marco is a creative well tuned to stylistic current events and youth culture and is certainly ready to leave a great mark within the quality and the famous Etro style that will certainly acquire a new creative impulse.
