After Shayne Oliver and Glenn Martens, Diesel uses a new talented designer

At the opening of the Venice Biennale, which will take place from 11 May to 24 November, the Italian brand will present its collaboration with Gosha Rubchinskiy. Diesel Red Tag x GR-Uniforma (which is therefore the third moment of the Diesel Red Tag project) will be unveiled on May 9th.

With this concept, Renzo Rosso briefly gives carte blanche to a creator to reinterpret the archives of his brand, giving life to a new vision of it.

Gosha Rubchinskiy had founded in 2008 a label with its name that drew stylistic elements from the skate culture and the imagery of vintage football, adding a dose of melancholy and a spirit considered representative of the mentality of Russian youth.

Last April 4, Rubchinskiy announced the end of this adventure, carried out together with the Comme des Garçons group.

Then he explained: “We close the Gosha Rubchinskiy brand as you know it. We will no longer have seasonal collections. In their place, something new is in preparation “.

Now we know that something is called GR-Uniforma, and shows an approach that uses various practices: photography, video, film, performance and music.

On the site of the future brand, the designer has published online a film shot in Georgia, and also a poster and answers to questions about art and Russia. Gosha Rubchinskiy explains in particular that he has created both the images and the music that accompany the launch of his brand in the second half of 2018. The first collection and the accompanying project are called “Gruppa”. The line will be distributed starting March 16th in the Dover Street Market network.

Therefore, the work done with Diesel completes this experience register. And on May 9th, the Muscovite designer will propose an artistic performance in Venice. This collection, which is aimed at multi-brand stores, will be distributed by the Tomorrow London group.
