Demna Gvasalia has announced that she wants to leave Vetements because the brand has grown and is capable of opening a chapter of its own. The Georgian designer, who he founded in 2014 along with his brother and current managing director Guram Gvasalia, announced the news to the fashion website Women’s Wear Daily.
Demna Gvasalia explained: “I founded Vetements because I was bored by fashion; against all expectations fashion has changed once and for all since Vetements appeared and has also opened its doors to many. So I feel I have accomplished my mission as a conceptual innovator and designer in this exceptional brand, while Vetements has matured into a company that can transport its creative legacy into its new chapter “.
Guram emphasized in a note: “Vetements has always been a collective of creative minds. We will continue further to push the limits respecting the codes and the authentic values of the brand, continuing to support creativity and genuine talent. What Demna has done in recent years is a key chapter in the history of Vetements. We are very grateful to him for having contributed to the great moment of the maison ».
Since 2015 Demna Gvasalia has been creative director of the prestigious Balenciaga brand and will now continue to fill this role. September 29th will present the spring / summer 2020 collection in Paris.
