Super guest arriving at the next edition of Pitti Uomo, scheduled for next June 11th to 14th: Givenchy will be the special guest, with the men’s collection on the podium on June 12th in a stand-alone version, interpreted by the director artistic Clare Waight Keller

An important step for the French fashion house, which aims to return to the calendar of the Parisian men’s fashion week starting next January.

“We are a French fashion house and our roots are in Paris – underlined the artistic director of the label – but treading for the first time the men’s catwalk at Pitti is a great chance. I had been thinking of doing something in Florence for a long time and it was great to receive an invitation. This is a very important and creative city, ideal for starting with a first fashion show, “said Waight Keller.

The announcement of the presence of Givenchy at Pitti Uomo comes on the heels of the excellent results of the presentation of the men’s collection in Paris last January, which also marked the stop at the co-ed shows sent by Waight Keller from the moment of his arrival in the row of the maison, from 2017.

“For us Pitti is an opportunity to confront ourselves with a much larger collection and therefore a very important chance to express what I want to do and communicate a broader vision of the masculine côté of the brand”.
Menswear, in fact, has a very important role for Givenchy, of which it represents one half of the business, as Philippe Fortunato, CEO of the label, underlined in an interview with wwd.com: «Both sectors have enormous value for us, from creative point of view and results ».

For the LVMH group, to which the label belongs, this is generally the time to push the accelerator on menswear, as shown by the launch of the category by Celine and the appointment of new designers (Virgil Abloh, Kim Jones and Kris Van Assche) at the helm of Louis Vuitton, Dior and Berluti over the last year.
