The sneaker has become a staple of the luxury market. Sneakers already last year accounted for over 40% of men’s footwear sales for Hermès and Vuitton, 70% for Pierre Hardy or Gucci and 90% for Balenciaga, Capital reported in a 2019 survey. In the footwear market in its overall, it represents the highest share of the assortment: 23.5%. This percentage rises to 57.4% in the Balenciaga footwear assortment for men and women, 23% for Gucci and 22.9% for Prada, according to Retviews.
