The Parisian auction house Artcurial will sell some pieces by Maison Margiela. Unmissable for vintage fans.
There will be as many as 200 very rare items and accessories signed by the designer to end up with the best bidder through an online auction, which will start a few days after the fashion show of the brand driven today by John Galliano, scheduled for Paris Fashion Week.
Protagonists, the creations that have made the history of the production of the Belgian designer, now 65, who launched his label in 2009 and has always shown shy and defiled. But he has always been in the spotlight for his production, recently celebrated also with two exhibitions in Paris (Margiela / Galliera, 1989-2009, the retrospective staged in 2018 at the Musée Galliera and Margiela, les hannées Hèrmes, always dating back to 2018 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs).
Le pumps “Fragile” all’asta
What will we see auctioned? The iconic pumps of the 2006 spring-summer collection with the “Fragile” sticker (estimated between 1,200 and 2,000 euros), the Whiteline brown suede skirt from autumn-winter 2000/2001 (estimated between 1,000 and 1,500 euros) and the 2007/2008 fall-winter look by the title “Sexy Punk – 80”.
Who knows who will win these masterpieces between art and fashion. It is said that one of the greatest collectors of Margiela is the colleague Raf Simons, who worked with him at the beginning of his career. And then Adrian Appiolaza, Loewe designer alongside J.W. Anderson. Maybe someone will end up in a museum. Others, however, on the women he loved to dress, nostalgic of his creations.
But if the complete catalog has not yet been published, Artcurial has clarified that some of the pieces will be truly historical (and unique). Waiting to meet him (from today to 6 March some items will be available for viewing in the shop on the Champs-Elysees), the appointment is online from 6 to 11 March 2019. Who will be the fastest fashion finger?
