Alberta Ferretti will receive the Gentile da Fabriano national award on 12 October at the Oratorio della Carità during the ceremony which will be conducted by Barbara Capponi, journalist of TG1. The event, promoted and organized by the “Gentile Premio” Association, is sponsored by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Tourism, the Marche Region and the Municipality of Fabriano.
The theme of the award this year is “Infinite beauty”, inspired by the bicentennial of the Leopardi Infinite. In addition to the famous Italian designer, the other winners of the 23rd edition of the Gentile da Fabriano national award will be awarded: the psychiatrist Vittorino Antonino Andreoli, the art historian Andrea de Marchi and the designer Simone Marchi.
Growing up surrounded by fabrics and fabrics thanks to the tailoring that the mother has in Cattolica, so from a young age she cultivated an aesthetic sense and nurtured a passion for the world of fashion. The mother’s tailor shop closed in 1965 and she, at the age of 18, opened her first store, Jolly Shop, always in Cattolica, in 1968, selling different brands but also some fabric items made by her. In 1974 he signed his first collection and in 1980 he founded the company Aeffe with his brother Massimo. In 1981 he opened the showroom in Milan, two years later his creations made their debut in the Milanese catwalks.
In 1983 the collaboration with Franco Moschino began, in 1984 the second line was born with the Philosophy brand by Alberta Ferretti, from 2014 renamed Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini. In 1988 he signed a collaboration agreement with the Turkish designer Rifat Ozbek, in 1994 with the designer Jean Paul Gaultier for the production and distribution of the prêt-à-porter lines. In the same year the restoration of the Castle of Montegridolfo, near Rimini, began: a six-year project which, in collaboration with the Municipality of Montegridolfo and the Emilia-Romagna Region, will bring the small medieval village back to life. also Palazzo Donizetti, the Milan office. The building, built in an eclectic style around 1920, is considered the work of Piero Portaluppi, a distinguished exponent of the twentieth century in Milan.
In 1996 he landed in the United States: Aeffe USA was born with the opening of a showroom in New York on 56th street in a building designed by C.P.H. Gilbert in 1902 for the banker Henry Seligman. And in 1997 he signed another collaboration agreement with Narciso Rodriguez.
Over the years, the dresses designed by Alberta Ferretti have been worn on the most photographed red carpets in the world by ambassadors such as Sandra Bullock, Susan Sarandon, Katy Perry, Dua Lipa, Juliette Binoche, Céline Dion, Chiara Ferragni, Regina King, Amal Clooney, Jane Fonda and many others.
