Alberta Ferretti focuses on daywear in the first day of Milan fashion week, revisiting classic tropes and adding “something extra to make them special”. Working in a dark palette (black, charcoal, and anthracite, with occasional flashes of olive green, robin’s-egg blue, and mustard), she strengthened the silhouettes of slender city coats by sharpening the shoulders, then added ruffles at the back for surprisel. Pants were proposed in many soft-tailored iterations, sometimes worn smartly under slim pleated skirts. For the collection’s finale, a series of dramatic black dresses, plus a resplendent golden number dipped in shimmering sequins, screamed glamour.
