A new adventure for the haute couture house Emilio Pucci, who collaborated on the interior design of the prestigious Florentine structure

La Rocco Forte Hotels celebrates the “rebirth” of the Savoy Hotel with the inauguration of its iconic Florentine hotel, located in the heart of the city, in the imposing Piazza della Repubblica.

After an important renovation project lasting 6 months, the famous Hotel, built 125 years ago in 1893, has officially reopened its doors on April 13, 2018. Olga Polizzi, Director of Design at Rocco Forte Hotels, has significantly enhanced the timeless elegance of the Savoy Hotel, inspired by contemporary themes, Renaissance ideas, and symbols of Florence, addressing the best local artisans.

Therefore, it is no surprise that Emilio Pucci, the historic Florentine fashion house, has made a precious contribution to the project, bringing the true essence of Italian creativity to the Hotel Savoy.

Laudomia Pucci, Image Director of the brand, worked together with Olga Polizzi in order to create a unique atmosphere within some of the Hotel’s spaces.

The origins of this collaboration go back to the creation, by the Emilio Pucci brand, of an exclusive scarf – to pay homage to the Savoy of Rocco Forte Hotels – depicting the Hotel and its location of excellence: the architectural decorations of Savoy, Piazza of the Republic and other important symbols such as Brunelleschi’s Dome, have been redesigned in the unmistakable Pucci style and shown on the scarf.

These scarves were made in two colors, fuchsia pink and turquoise; furthermore, the design was then reproduced on glass tops, like the tables on the outside terrace of the Hotel restaurant, becoming the main decorative element in harmony with the seats, characterized by the warm Mediterranean water colors.

The restructuring The entrance and lobby of the Hotel, brought back to their original size, are surmounted by a five meter high molded ceiling and enhanced by two new large reception desks, which in turn are embellished in the corners by four Caryatid putti representing the four seasons and the “Fleur de Lis”, the lily, emblem of the city.

This new environment, spacious, welcoming and dominated by white, is finely furnished with delicate and bright accents typical of Emilio Pucci and with artistic elements of relief, among which the paintings of the artist Luca Pignatelli, so as to create a harmonious union between contemporary glamor and artisan tradition.

In the lobby, the iconic prints by Emilio Pucci are featured on the “Rocco Forte” cushions, bearing the same name, which decorate the comfortable sofas with a strong predominance of black and fuchsia, while the armchairs are finely decorated with a velvet pop flower print Renaissance motifs to a spirit of pop art.

The modern and sophisticated look of the environment is emphasized by a handmade rug with the classic “Lamborghini” print from the Emilio Pucci archives, with pink, gray, white and black colors. In addition to the common areas, Olga Polizzi gave a totally renewed look to the hotel’s rooms and suites.

Following the reduction of the total number from 102 to 80, many have been completely renovated and expanded, in order to offer future Savoy guests an even more comfortable and luxurious experience, thanks to the new Junior Suites and Grand View Suites and the majestic Duomo Presidential Suite, which occupies its own wing of the hotel with beautiful views of the striking dome of Brunelleschi.

Furthermore, on the 5th floor, there is the only two-story suite with panoramic views that embrace the roofs of Florence, Giotto’s Bell Tower and Palazzo Vecchio.

Each of the rooms and suites has been designed to instill a sense of serenity and freshness and the delicate shades used, along with luxurious fabrics, recreate a predominantly Italian atmosphere that perfectly reflects the essence and style of Rocco Forte.

The tables, exclusively made by Il Bronzetto, the chairs, the mirrors and other pieces of furniture come directly from the Chelini Florence laboratory and combine tastefully with the style of C & C Milano.

Olga Polizzi says: “It is wonderful to see how many artisans still make their masterpieces in the center of Florence. During this time we have relied on many of them, an experience I am very proud of and which I hope will lead to making the hotel truly Florentine “.

Laudomia Pucci says: “Working closely with Olga on this project was wonderful for me. For the first time ever in the hospitality world and in the history of Emilio Pucci, we have translated into creativity, the union between the elegance of Savoy and the liveliness and sophistication inherent in Emilio Pucci and in the city of Florence itself. ”

Thanks to this significant renovation project, Hotel Savoy begins to write a new chapter in its history as a reference point for luxury hospitality in Florence, one of the most evocative destinations in the world, a Renaissance jewel and the cradle of Italian fashion as a phenomenon international.
