Humberto Leon and Carol Lim delivered clothes that are enjoyable without any conceptual fuss
Being the last show on a long and draining schedule is both a curse and a blessing. The audience is very worn out and maybe a tad unfocused, but also quite prone to be cheered up.
Today at Kenzo, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim delivered. The show was feisty to say the least, with a band playing live music and suspended bouquets of flowers going up and down from the ceiling. The clothes were just as cheerful: a bold delivery of vibrant colours, catchy patterns and billowing volumes apt to free the body and its movements. The womenswear felt sporty and speedy, just a tiny bit more uptight. The menswear was about even bigger volumes and a pervading lightness.
There’s not much more to say, and not because this is the last review of the day for this writer. The fact is, Leon and Lim deliver clothes that are as enjoyable as they are straightforward, without any conceptual fuss. Ultimately, it’s refreshing.
